First-ever eAWD Corvette E-Ray uses an advanced electrified propulsion system in addition to its 6.2L LT2 Small Block V-8 enabling all-season performance and composure — and 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds1

NEW YORK – Exactly 70 years after the Corvette debuted at Motorama in New York City, Chevrolet has returned to introduce the first-ever electrified Corvette with all-wheel-drive and a powerful 6.2L LT2 Small Block V-8, the 2024 E-Ray.

“In 1953, the enthusiastic reaction to the Chevrolet Corvette concept kicked off seven decades of passion, performance and American ingenuity,” said Mark Reuss, General Motors president. “E-Ray, as the first electrified, all-wheel-drive Corvette, takes it a step further and expands the promise of what Corvette can deliver.”

Developed to be the Corvette owners can arrive in anywhere, no matter the season, the new E-Ray — available in removeable roof coupe and hardtop convertible models — uses electrification to enhance the driving experience with intense straight-line performance, all-weather confidence and sure-footed grand touring capabilities that can only be achieved with eAWD.

E-Ray is also the only sports car pairing two separate propulsion systems to provide naturally aspirated V-8 power with electrified responsiveness powered by eAWD, making it one like none.

“Corvette has been a halo for Chevrolet since 1953,” said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. “E-Ray’s unprecedented blend of confidence, luxury performance, sophistication and style provides a new reason for more people to experience Corvette.”

The E-Ray is the quickest production Corvette in history, clocking a 2.5-second 0-60 mph time1 before breezing through the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds1.

“Corvettes must provide an exhilarating driving experience on backroads and tracks, and E-Ray nails it,” said Tadge Juechter, executive chief engineer, Corvette. “The electrification technology enhances the feeling of control in all conditions, adding an unexpected degree of composure.”

A near immediate feeling of thrust from low-end torque is core to the Corvette driving experience, and the E-Ray packs plenty of it. Power comes from the 6.2L LT2 Small Block V-8, putting 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque to the rear axle. It is complemented by an electric motor that channels an additional 160 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque through the front wheels via a 1.9 kWh battery pack, which is located between the seats. In total, E-Ray produces a combined 655 horsepower from both the electric motor and Small Block V-8.

NEW YORK – Today, the first-ever electrified Chevrolet Corvette, the 2024 E-Ray, was revealed in dramatic fashion at The Rink at Rockefeller Center, performing advanced maneuvers on the ice to showcase the vehicle’s eAWD capabilities, while also marking 70 years of performance and innovation for Corvette.

Exactly 70 years ago, on Jan. 17, 1953, Corvette made its world debut at GM Motorama in New York City.

“In honor of Corvette’s momentous debut in New York City, we returned exactly 70 years later to expand the idea of what a Corvette can deliver with the electrified all-wheel drive Corvette E-Ray,” said Scott Bell, vice president of Global Chevrolet.

The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray will be on display at center ice at the Rockefeller Center for the duration of the day on Jan. 17.

To the Moon and Track

Developing the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated production V8 took seven years and meant overcoming numerous engineering obstacles. A few of the engineers who solved those problems talk about how they did it.

In the age of turbo- and electric-boosted four-bangers, General Motors chose to go bold when it came time to power the 2023 Corvette Z06. So big, in fact, that development of the Z06’s 5.5-liter LT6 engine was nicknamed Project Gemini, a nod (in part) to NASA’s early manned spaceflight program in the 1960s. The result? The world’s most powerful naturally aspirated production V8, producing an eye-popping 670 horsepower at 8400 rpm. Plus, a set of massive twin-throttle bodies, a variable tuned intake manifold, and a glorious quad exhaust.

This rocket launch is the endgame of a seven-year passion project for a Corvette development team that includes Corvette executive chief engineer Tadge Juechter, global powertrain/engine chief engineer Jordan Lee, and Corvette vehicle performance manager Alexander MacDonald. We sat down with all three as they discussed the challenges that came with building their dream Corvette.

Jordan Lee: We built our first prototypes in September 2015. We wanted an engine that was true to the Corvette DNA and yet unlike any conventional Small Block engine that we’ve done in the past. So: Double overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, unique cylinder block, and a sophisticated dry sump lube system. Small Block history is “near and dear” to Corvette, so we kept our historic 4.4-inch bore center dimension.

We were looking for a name that would stick with us. We really liked that astronauts in the late ’60s and ’70s drove Corvettes; they got a pretty lucrative deal I think to lease the car for a dollar a year. We came up with Project Gemini. Gemini is Latin for twins, and the engine carries that theme with two intake plenums, two throttle bodies, two camshafts per cylinder head, etc. The fact that this was our moonshot — essentially, the most complicated and sophisticated engine we’ve ever come up with — made Gemini the perfect name for us.

Due to current supply-chain shortages, certain features shown have limited or late availability. See the window label or a dealer regarding the features on an individual vehicle.

DETROIT – The first mid-engine Corvette Z06 continues its promise of putting the world on notice with Chevrolet’s first entry into the Web3 space: a one-of-one 2023 Corvette Z06-inspired NFT artwork created by the artist xsullo. The upcoming “Own the Color” auction pairs the NFT with a custom-painted, real-life 2023 Corvette Z06 color-matched to the artwork. At the conclusion of the auction offered exclusively via SuperRare, the pioneering marketplace for unique curated NFT artworks, the winning bidder will be able to say they “Own the Color” — Minted Green, a reference to minting NFTs. The auction will be live to eligible bidders worldwide June 20-24 and those interested may only place bids in Ethereum.

All proceeds from the auction will benefit DonorsChoose. The organization’s mission is to make it easy for anyone to help a teacher in need and move us closer to a nation where students in every community have the tools and experiences they need for a great education. Full terms and conditions of the auction, including limitations, eligibility and how to win are available at Chevrolet.com/CorvetteZ06NFTterms.

“Corvette is a halo at Chevrolet. It’s the pinnacle of performance and staying cutting-edge means getting into new territories as a bit of a pioneer,” said Steve Majoros, vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. “This is our company’s first NFT. We see ‘Own the Color’ as an important stepping stone for Chevrolet into future digital initiatives for our customers.”

“Own the Color” means Chevrolet will not apply Minted Green to another production 2023 Corvette Z06. In addition to a digital certificate of ownership and authenticity for the art piece, the physical Corvette Z06, equipped with the Z07 performance package, carbon fiber wheels and a commemorative plaque, will carry the option code RFN. The signification will forever associate the car with this auction and it’s one-of-one status. Further, the VIN for this Corvette Z06 is inspired by binary code, the language of computers, as a further connection between the car and Web3.
